Private hotels and Guesthouses

For those who want to avoid government run hotels for any reason, () has a number of nice hotels. A number of new private owned hotels open after 1988. Some of these are listed below.

Kandawgyi Lodge Maymyo (Pyinoolwin)

This one was open in 2002 as a Singapore joint venture hotel. It was a converted 1921 English Warden’s lodge near Kandawgyi lake, with new bungalows in the garden outside. All rooms are facing the Kandawgyi Lake. There is no TV or phone in the rooms – this is a hotel to take a real rest! The hotel is situated in Nandar Road, Maymyo, phone 085-21839, 21840, 01-20 20 71 (Yangon for booking), fax: 085-22497. Contact email at woodlandtravels@mptmail.net.mm. Prices start at US$ 40 for bungalow and US$ 50 for rooms in the main building.

Mya Nan Dar Hotel

This hotel is situated 2 km outside the town on the road to Lashio. All rooms have TV, fan, nice balcony with attached private bathroom and hot water. Contact phone is 085-21922, 21015. Prices start at US$ 15 for single and US$ 20 for double room.

Royal Parkview Hotel

This hotel is located just outside the ring road. 20 stylish wooden floored rooms are comfortable and clean. Basic rooms have no air-con (usually not necessary in the cool weather of Maymyo) and with shower while more expensive rooms have air-con and bathtub. Prices start at US$ 25 for standard room. Sweety Land Hotel

Located in Club Road, near Maymyo Golf Club. It was newly opened in 2006 with luxury chalets. Contact 085-21348.

Thiri Myanmar Hotel

Newly opened hotel with comfortable rooms in main building and rooms and suites in chalets. Swimming pool included. Room rate starts at US$ 30. Contact 38 B, Forest Road, Maymyo (Pyinoolwin), phone 085-22483, 21081.
